From logs to finished lumber, here’s what
to expect when working with Lumber by Lance
Experience, specialized equipment, and a commitment to making the most of every tree.
The Timeline
1. Initial Consultation
We start by discussing your project, your logs, and what you’d like to create. This helps determine the best approach for milling and drying your lumber.
2. Site Preparation
Before milling begins, logs should be accessible and positioned for efficient cutting. We’ll guide you on how to prepare your site for a smooth process.
3. Milling
Logs are milled on-site using a portable sawmill or processed at the mill, depending on your setup and needs. Each log is cut to maximize usable lumber based on your goals.
Step 4: Stacking & Drying
After milling, lumber is stacked to allow for proper airflow and initial drying. If needed, kiln drying is used to further reduce moisture and improve stability.
5. Final Use
Once dried, your lumber is ready for use in flooring, furniture, beams, cabinetry, or other custom applications.
